Colour reversal


Colour reversal films can be directly projected after processing as well as telecined. This flexiability makes reversal films an easy option for those on limited budgets or as an introduction to the format. Kodak 64T 7280 – 40ASA (daylight) 60ASA (tungsten)

Hailed as the replacement for the stalwart Kodachrome 40, Kodak has added Ektachrome 64T color reversal film to its Super 8 portfolio. The super saturated, fine grain motion picture film which Kodak describes as having “very high image quality and excellent color reproduction”. Requires specialist E6 processing, which some retailers are including in the price. Note: Requires 85B filter for correct daylight exposure.

Kodak Kodachrome 40 – 25ASA (daylight) 40ASA (tungsten)

The turn up and go stalwart of Super 8 filmmaking, Kodachrome 40 is the definitive Super 8 film stock. This colour reversal film performs well in strong outdoor lighting conditions, has fine grain and proven archival qualities. Performs as 25 ASA in daylight and 40 ASA under tungsten lighting. The film included a mailer (in Europe and Australia) for return to Kodak for price inclusive processing. Note: Kodachrome is now discontinued – film can only be processed as black and white.

Kodak Ektachrome VNF 7240 – 125ASA (daylight and tungsten)

Utilising the 7240 Kodak Video News Film, this moderate speed (ASA 125) stock has good sharpness and moderate grain and is balanced for both daylight and tungsten. Its higher speed makes it a good choice for low or available light situations and is an alternative to Kodachrome K40. Requires specialist processing, not included in the price. When used in bright sunlight, care must be taken to avoid over exposure. Note: this stock is now discontinued, stocks are very limited.

Kahl UT 18 – 50ASA

KAHL UT 18is a low sensitive Color reversal film with full colour reproduction. This film be developed and scanned by arrangement with Kahl within 24 hours. Its granular structure provides the aytpical Super 8 look! Kahl Film costs are inclusive of developing which is valid for 1 year from purchase date.

Kahl UT 21 – 100ASA

KAHL UT 21 is a low sensitive Color reversal film with full colour reproduction. This film be developed and scanned by arrangement with Kahl within 24 hours. The film has good rendition of the Pastel and skin tones and is excellent for documentary films and music videos.Kahl Film costs are inclusive of developing which is valid for 1 year from purchase date.

Pro8mm Super 8/80 – 64ASA (daylight) 16ASA (tungsten)

Repackaged Kodak Ektachrome 64 to included specialist E-6 processing, by Pro8mm included in the price. Note: Requires 85B filter for correct daylight exposure.

Pro8mm Super 8/85 – 100ASA (daylight) 25ASA (tungsten)

The 8/85 offers some latitude and colours similar to Kodachrome 40 with a fine grain. A good replacement stock for that old home movie look, or when you need to project the super 8 original. This film is remanufactured from Kodak Ektachrome 100D 5285 E6 stock. Requires specialist processing, included in Pro8mm price.

Spectra 50D – 50ASA (daylight) 16ASA (tungsten)

Spectra Film and Video are packaging Fuji’s Velvia 50D daylight film stock into Super 8 cartridges. Grain and sharpness are reported to be on par with Kodachrome 40 film, the stock requires specialist processing, which is included in Spectra price.

Spectra Ektachrome 100D – 100ASA (daylight) 25ASA (tungsten)

Spectra Film and Video are packaging Kodak Ektachrome 100D stock for Super 8. Designed for daylight use it delivers intensely saturated color, plus a neutral gray scale and accurate skin tones. Requires specialist processing, included in the Spectra price.

Wittner Kinotechnik are packaging the mich loved Kodak Kodachrome 40 stock for Super 8.

Wittner Chrome V50D – 50ASA (daylight) 16ASA (tungsten)

Wittner Kinotechnik are packaging Fuji’s Velvia 50D daylight film stock into Super 8 cartridges. for Super 8. Designed for daylight use it delivers intensely saturated color, plus a neutral gray scale and accurate skin tones. Requires specialist processing, either pre-paid from Wittner or by those who can handle the E6 process.
